Introduction
decoderHealth presents recorded health data and calculated estimates together. This reference explains what each comes from, where it is stored, and what a missing value means. The dashboard is a view of available records; it does not establish that every meal, activity, or observation has been captured.
Connected records & source permissions
Health Connect on Android and Apple Health on iOS supply permitted connected records. decoderHealth reads weight, steps, activity, energy intake, nutrients, sleep, water, glucose, and cycle data into a local view for charts. Data coverage depends on both your permissions and the records supplied by your other apps.
A read permission allows records into decoderHealth. A write permission allows supported manual entries to be sent back. Imported records are not re-written as new decoderHealth measurements. Fasting and Check-Ins are local features without a corresponding connected-health record type.
BMI & basal energy estimates
BMI uses the latest available weight divided by height squared. BMR uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation with profile inputs and the latest weight. These are calculated estimates, separate from measurements supplied by a device or health source.
Required profile inputs or weight may be absent. decoderHealth only calculates outputs for which the required inputs are available. Changing the profile or its units should be considered when comparing dashboard values across visits.
Estimated daily expenditure
decoderHealth prefers available total energy for expenditure and does not let the estimate fall below BMR. If total energy is unavailable, it can use BMR plus active energy, followed by supported exercise-session energy. It does not ask you to choose a static activity-level multiplier.
The selected source matters: a day based on recorded total energy is different from a day using a fallback estimate. Review source availability before interpreting a change as a change in your routine.
Recorded intake & energy balance
Energy balance = recorded energy intake − estimated daily expenditure. Intake is assembled from available nutrition records. A day without nutrition records has zero recorded intake for the calculation; that is not evidence that no food was consumed.
Nutrition fields can be incomplete. An absent nutrient is not a confirmed zero. Totals describe the selected records, rather than a verified complete diet or a clinical assessment of nutrient status.

Weight goal & focus chart
The dashboard's focus chart places weight alongside energy-balance context. Goal-related displays use the target weight and direction in your profile. Records and estimates remain distinct: a plotted relationship is not a causal claim or a forecast of a future measurement.
Review longer windows and individual records when a daily point looks unexpected. A change in a source, permission, profile, or logging coverage can change the available summary.
Dates, units & history
Your profile time zone defines the calendar days used for summaries. Stored record timing and source offsets remain available in the underlying data. Preferred units control display for supported metrics, including weight, water, and glucose.
Sleep summaries use recorded sessions and available stages. Daily aggregates depend on the metric and the data the platform supplies. A day still in progress contains records available so far and should not be read as a completed day's total.

Local fasting, Check-Ins & Buddy
Fasting durations come from stored start and end times, with an active session measured up to the current time. Check-Ins store personal mood, energy, and optional observations. These records stay on the device rather than being written to Health Connect or Apple Health.
Buddy suggestions are generated locally from supported recorded signals. They do not require an AI-chat subscription. Timer phase information and Buddy observations do not diagnose a condition or measure an unrecorded biological process.
AI chat scope & account history
decoderPro chat can request bounded daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly summaries of supported recorded metrics. Conversation context and those selected summaries are sent online. Direct identifiers are filtered before requests; this does not mean all health context is anonymous or stays local.
Visible conversations sync to the paid account. Diagnostic metadata and health-tool results are stored separately and may remain after chat text is scrubbed. Subscription access and its period allowance determine whether a new turn can be completed.
Extracting recorded data
Open Settings → Extract Data, choose the supported metrics and trailing-day range, then review or copy JSON. The window includes the current profile-calendar day. Indented and compact views represent the same extract.
An extract contains stored rows in the selected window; it is not a full-device backup or a replacement for Health Connect or Apple Health. Keep copied health data private and check the selected window before sharing it.
