Extracting and Reviewing Your Metric Records

decoderHealth's Extract Data screen provides a JSON view of selected stored metric rows. It lets you examine the records available to the app without treating a dashboard summary as the full underlying dataset.

What a metric extract contains

The extract includes stored rows for the supported metrics you select within a trailing-day window. The window includes the current day in your profile time zone. It uses each row's start time to decide whether the row belongs in the selection.

This is a recorded-data extract, rather than a full-device backup or a guarantee that every source record has been captured. Health Connect and Apple Health remain the sources for connected metrics.

Choosing your selection

Open Settings → Extract Data. The screen offers checkboxes for the supported metric keys and a Days back control. Choose the records and the range needed for the question you want to inspect.

The current-day option contains only today's selected stored rows. Longer ranges include that day and the preceding profile-calendar days. If no profile time zone is available, extraction uses UTC for the day boundaries.

Reviewing the JSON

  1. Select the metrics you want to inspect.
  2. Choose a trailing-day range.
  3. Review the generated JSON in the viewer.
  4. Switch between indented and compact views if useful.
  5. Copy the extract when you want to review it outside the app.

Indented and compact views represent the same generated payload. Changing the presentation does not re-query or re-stamp the extract's generation time. The indented view preserves line structure; the compact view uses a continuous representation.

Reading records separately from charts

A chart may group or aggregate stored values. An extract exposes selected stored rows, so it can differ from what a daily total suggests. Some metrics are already stored as platform aggregates, while others preserve individual records or sessions.

Dates and source context matter when reviewing a record. Your profile time zone defines the selection window; the stored record timing remains part of the available data. Preferred display units and stored measurement units can serve different purposes.

Limits and privacy

An extract only contains supported selected stored metrics. Do not assume it includes your entire profile, every local tracker, all chat history, or every record in the connected health service. It is not a recovery tool for local fasting and Check-In history.

Copied health information leaves the app's local viewer. Keep it private and check both the selected metrics and dates before using it elsewhere. Do not include a full extract in a general support message unless the team has specifically agreed on an appropriate way to receive it.

Keep source coverage in view

If the expected records are missing, review read permissions, the source's data, and refresh status first. A partial extract can reflect a source or permission gap rather than a complete account of the day.
